COLORS OF SERBIA: UNIVERSITY OF REGENSBURG

Colors of Serbia - a collaboration between students of Europaeum. East-West-Centre of Universität Regensburg and photographer Tamara Susa

In the Spring of 2020, I was invited to show my photographs at the University of Regensburg. Unfortunately, due to Covid lockdowns, the in-person exhibition was cancelled, and I never had the chance to travel to this lovely city and meet Antonia Vogl who I collaborated with on this project. The photographs were showcased online in an Artsteps gallery, which you can view HERE

Personal greeting from photographer Tamara Šuša

Biking by the Danube, watching the sunset from Gardoš tower and strolling through Knez Mihailova street in the evenings was all part of our daily lives growing up in Belgrade. It wasn’t until I moved away that I started appreciating the beauty of my hometown. Now, each time I go back, I try to document its charm through my lens and explore new areas around the country.

Since I moved away, Belgrade got a new bridge, a new Avala tower, and new graffiti that decorate the buildings in the old town. Despite these upgrades, the soul of Belgrade remains the same – it is still the city where friendships are made by sipping coffees in “kafići“, maintained by partying together at “splavovi” and turned into love stories while watching colorful sunsets from Kalemegdan fortress. Every time I visit, Belgrade steals my heart all over again, and I hope with this photo gallery it steals a piece of yours as well.

I became a photographer pursuing the dream to make traveling my job, and over the last decade, photography has taken me to over 30 countries around the world. But I never imagined that photographs of home would take me places as well. I am so honored to have this opportunity to present my photographs in Regensburg. I was very much looking forward to visiting and meeting the amazing people that helped put this together.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize this exhibition, and especially to Antonia Vogl who coordinated everything from helping me pick out photographs to organizing my stay in Regensburg.

Looking forward to visiting on another occasion! Enjoy Serbia week!

Živeli,

Tamara
